Whether for better or worse, Years of the Rat tend to bring change to the world. With all of the uncertainty of today, who knows what overhaul of society will begin in 2020, but why worry about that when there are precious clothes to buy.

To celebrate the start of a new lunar year and a new zodiac cycle, a number of incredible brands have debuted new grails to lay your paws on. Drawing inspiration from everything to Chinese mythology to the most famous rat of them all, Mickey Mouse.

Rag & Bone

New York brand rag & bone, popular in many Australian areas, are using their 2020 capsule to pay homage to another New York City icon: the pizza rat. The brand has stayed with their M.O, by keeping the collection simple but still having fun making some quality clothes.

Gucci

The first of our brands to try to convince us that Mickey Mouse is a rat and ruin everyone’s childhood, Gucci has come together with Disney for what is a truly iconic collaboration (no matter where you stand on the mouse/rat issue). The collection features Gucci’s iconic flare, complete with silk shirts and floral prints, combined with the playful cartoon mouse.

Off-White

Designer Virgil Abloh played it relatively safe with his Lunar New Year capsule, but it still has all the hallmarks of Off-White. The collection mixes the brand’s signatures - quotation marks and arrows - with imagery and wording symbolic of the Chinese New Year of the Rat.

Adidas

Never ones to shy away from some revenue, Disney jumped in on the Lunar New Year action with another iconic brand in sportswear giant Adidas. This time the collection is a combination of two classics: Mickey Mouse printed on Stan Smiths and Superstars. The standout piece is the Stan Smith silhouette with an all-over Mickey Mouse comic ready to come to life with some 3D glasses.
